What is MCP?

Model Context Protocol is how TheBotBuilder exposes external tools to bots in a consistent way.

Why use MCP integrations?

  • Retrieve live business data
  • Trigger actions in other systems
  • Connect Google Workspace apps
  • Call your own HTTP APIs or MCP servers

Types of integrations

  • Add webhook tool / API Connect — call an external HTTP API
  • Add client tool / Custom MCP — run a custom MCP server
  • Google apps — Google Meet, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Gmail

Connected tools lists everything enabled for your organization. Only enabled configs can be attached on a bot's Tool tab.
